Cooperative
Learning:
Cooperative Learning is a planned and evaluated work experience
related to the student’s educational objectives. Programs
and courses include: Cooperative Education (COE 199). This course
allows the student to receives both financial remuneration and academic
credit. While the maximum amount of credit granted for cooperative
education experience varies by curriculum, the amount may never
exceed 8 hours in an Associate of Applied Science Degree or Diploma
Program.
Internship/Practicum
(Internship/practicum varies by the programs and examples are as
follows):
Internships provide students with the opportunity to apply their
acquired occupational skills in a realistic setting, therefore,
enhancing the transition from school to work. On-the-job experiences
in the students’ related field of study are provided. The
course and programs will have a variance in required clock hours
per credit hour which is approved by the WBL Coordinator and the
Program Coordinator for the field of study. Some internships are
only offered on a pass/fail basis only while practicum experiences
are offered on a graded basis.
A
Work Based Learning Agreement (signed by student, faculty member,
and supervisor) is required and mandated as part of the program.
