The
WorkKeys testing score will not keep you from graduating in the
program. This test will be used as a measure to help the faculty
ensure effectiveness in the program and all test scores will be
shared with you. The test is expected to last approximately 3 hours.
Many
employers
will use WorkKeys scoring to help in determining employees for their
companies. You as a student can use these testing scores in your
portfolios or addition to your resume when looking for a job after
you graduate.
ACT
WorkKeys is a nationwide testing system that assesses a student's
abilities in practical skills used in the workplace. ACT WorkKeys
results can be used as documentation of those skills that can be
shown to a potential or current employer. The ACT WorkKeys system
has been adopted by the Kentucky Community and Technical College
System for all students enrolled in Associate in Applied Technology
Degrees, ranging from business to healthcare degrees.
There
are nine areas of possible ACT WorkKeys assessment. However, KCTCS
students will be assessed in only three of those areas. The type
of assessments taken will vary depending upon the program in which
the student is currently enrolled in. All students will take a pre
assessment at the beginning of their program-specific classes and
a post test as they near graduation. Students will receive a score
level in each area that indicates the level
of skill in each area.
