UCM Advisory Council

      The University Center of the Mountains Advisory Council is to assist the postsecondary partners in coordinating activities of the UCM.   The purposes of the Council include:   to represent the UCM service area interests and provide input regarding strategic directions, input regarding decision-making and input regarding evaluation and to be informed prior to all degree/offerings of the UCM. The Advisory Council and its citizen members have the very important role of informing the partners how the UCM can best serve the community in the Kentucky River Area Development District.   The UCM MOA suggests that the Council, which is composed of community and partner representatives, meet twice annually.   The director of the UCM will convene and facilitate the Council.

    The Council is composed of:   Shirley Conley of LKLP Outreach Office in Hindman representing Knott County as the KCTCS designee; Frank Fletcher, an attorney in Jackson and member of the MSU Advisory Council, representing Breathitt County as the MSU designee; Todd Horton, an elementary school principle in Leslie County representing Leslie County as a designee of EKU; Bill Engle, an attorney in Hazard, representing Perry County as the designee from Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC); Jan Stumbo, of Hindman, who is active in numerous projects in Knott, Eastern Kentucky and Kentucky, representing the HCTC Board of Directors; Dr. Dan Connell , the MSU Associate Vice-President   of Academic Outreach and Support, representing MSU President Ron Eaglin; Dr. Byron Bond, the Dean of EKU's Continuing Education and Outreach, representing EKU President Joanne Glasser; Dr. Kathy Smoot, the Provost/Academic Services VP at HCTC, representing HCTC President Dr. Jay Box; and Doug Fraley, HCTC's Dean and Vice-President of Student Services, representing KCTCS President Dr. Michael McCall.
