Welcome to the University Center of the Mountains!   The University Center of the Mountains (UCM) is an exciting opportunity for students who desire to obtain a bachelors or masters degree close to home in the Kentucky River Region of southeastern Kentucky.   Eight postsecondary institutions have collaborated to create and provide a forum of high quality instruction, comprehensive student services, and community development through the UCM. These institutions are Eastern Kentucky University , Hazard Community and Technical College , the Kentucky Community and Technical College System , Kentucky State University, Lindsey Wilson College , Midway College , Morehead State University , and University of the Cumberlands.

Since the formation of this partnership in July 2003, over 700 students have enrolled in nineteen bachelor and seven master degree programs .  The UCM partners have awarded over 362 bachelor ands master degrees during this time.  UCM classes and services are physically provided on the campuses of Hazard Community and Technical College in four counties.   Students earn their degrees from the institution offering the particular program in which they enroll and complete.

The UCM will continue to grow and serve you and this region.   Other degrees and partners will be added based on your response, the needs of employers and the on-going needs assessment.   You are invited to contact us about how we may best serve you and the Kentucky River Area Development District.
