Section 1: Campus Security Authority.

List campus security authority personnel (definition at KRS 164.948(2)):

Campus security authority personnel:

- All College Vice Presidents and Campus Directors (College-Wide)

- Housing Director (Lees College Campus)
- Resident Assistants (Lees College Campus)
- Maintenance and Operations Department (College-wide)

Campus Enforcement
The extent and nature of enforcement authority of campus security authority personnel: Campus security authorities have responsibility for documenting crimes that have been personally observed or reported to them. A General Incident Reporting form is used
to report any crime occurring on campus or on property owned or managed by the college. All crime reports made to a campus security authority must be reported immediately to the Vice President of Student Services. The Office of Student Services works in conjunction with local and state police departments. These agencies are the official police for the college. The college requires
prompt and accurate reporting of all criminal or suspected criminal matters occurring on campus. All crimes are reported to the local police and the Vice President of Student Services . Maintenance and Operations provides night and weekend security on college
property and in the Residence Hall. Either the Resident Director or Director of Student Life is on call every weekend to deal with problems in the residence hall. These individuals provide support to Maintenance and Operations and the Resident Assistants.

Section 2: Description of Information Programs.

Describe programs that inform students and employees about:

A) Campus safety and security:

A variety of seminars are presented each year to students and employees. These programs include diversity, sexual harassment, general crime prevention and work place violence. In addition, a Safety Committee is active at Hazard Community and Technical College. This committee is charged with the review and recommendations of all policies concerning safety issues and annually review
compliance with safety, disability and other regulations. A select number ofMaintenance and Operations staff attend training seminars each year. The Resident Director and Resident Assistants at the Lees College Campus attend training
seminars at the beginning of each semester. Literature is provided to students and staff. Local fire and police department conduct training sessions on the Lees College Campus. The college has a crisis management team and the team will assist the college in times of emergencies. The team has constructed a manual that will be made available to all staff. The Director of Student Life and Maintenance/Operations Director attend Minger Act training each summer.

B) How to report a crime:
Hazard Community College has always been and continues to be committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of the college
community A crime log is maintained in the Vice President of Student Services office. Reports are made to the college community when reported crimes or other activity presents a threat to students or employees. Each semester the Vice President of Student Services is responsible for ensuring that currently enrolled students; students applying for admissions and employees are notified regarding the availability of the campus crime log. Criminal activity is to be reported to the Vice President of Student Services and the Director of Student Life. The college maintains a web site with a listing of all criminal activity. A special task force wasformed in 2004 to help the college and community deal with an increasing drug problem. The task force working with the UNITE organization formed two student drug coalitions on campus.


C) How to Prevent Crimes:

Hazard Community College utilizes on-campus and off-campus resources to make students aware of safety issues Emergency phones are available in the majority of classrooms. The Vice President of Student Services and the Director of Student Life make e-mail releases on generalized threats to the campus property.  Media notification to the general public is coordinated with the Office of Public
Relations as required. Referrals for crisis intervention are made when it is deemed necessary. Fire drills are conducted from all buildings college wide. A resident handbook at the Lees College Campus is made available to all resident students.
The handbook includes emergency number and crime prevention measures. Hazard Community and Technical College has hired local law enforcement personal to assist with campus safety. Cameras have been installed in several buildings on the Hazard Campus.

The maintenance and operation continues to adjust existing schedules so that the college will have night and week-end coverage. The above are examples of how the college respond to crimes and some of the steps that have been taken to
ensure safety and security.
