KCTCS Board of Regents

Hazard Community & Technical College is one of sixteen community & technical colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The Kentucky Community and Technical College System was created by Governor Paul Patton and the General Assembly as part of Kentucky 's Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997. All public institutions of higher education are coordinated by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. This council approves the establishment of degree programs and coordinates activities of the eight regional universities.

The KCTCS responds to the needs of students, businesses, and industries throughout the Commonwealth. KCTCS provides postsecondary education and training at the diploma, associate degree, technical degree, and certificate levels. It also provides short-term customized training for businesses and industries, adult basic education and remedial education, and other services associated with comprehensive community and technical colleges.

The KCTCS allows for flexibility. Students will find it easier to transfer their credits from one institution to another within its system.

The KCTCS provides access to two-year general studies programs for students who plan to transfer to a university, technical career programs, and remedial and continuing educationâ€"all of which support economic and workforce development in Kentucky.
